About Adventures in Health
On the morning of November 25, 2011, at age 39, Sean Entin had a stroke from a massive blood clot in his carotid artery. After surgery to repair his artery, he was put into a medically induced coma for one week. Almost two months later, Sean was transported by ambulance from Santa Barbara to San Diego to Sharp Grossmont in-patient Rehab, where he spent the next 6 weeks in intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy. Sean had to learn to walk again on his own and regain his strength.
Prior to the stroke, Sean was working as an entrepreneur and business development expert who has guided world-class enterprises to sustainable profitability. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration from University of Southern California, Sean went on to found several companies in the entertainment industry including the commercial media company, Zen Management. In addition, he played an integral role in the development of Los Angeles Center Studios -- a multi-use office and production facility that continues to help revitalize the west side of downtown Los Angeles.
In 2009, Sean Entin became co-founder, managing director, and the Chief Marketing Officer for Greenhouse Holdings, Inc. (GRHU). At GURHU, he developed and implemented the company’s international marketing strategies, as well as raising capital and managing the investor relations responsible for taking GRHU public. In March of 2012, GRHU was acquired by Premier Alliance, where he is still a shareholder.
Since the stroke, Sean has worked hard to improve his physical and mental health and continues to push himself with the mantra "I can. I shall. I will." During his ongoing rehabilitation, he has met incredible people who also have suffered traumatic brain injuries, but unfortunately did not have the quality of medical care Sean has been lucky to have. This inspired Sean to create the "Move 2 Improve Foundation" (M2I) now known as the BRAINetwork, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outpatient physical and psychological rehabilitation and community reentry services for those with acquired and traumatic brain injuries. Today at least 5.3 million Americans, 2% of the U.S. population, currently live with disabilities resulting from a TBI (traumatic brain injury). Sean has seen, first hand, the urgent need to support these individuals, their families and communities by providing access to and funding for crucial, on-going rehabilitation services.
Sean didn't stop there.
In early 2018 while training to complete his first 5k race since his stroke, Sean launched the "Strokehacker" community on Facebook which provides a network for stroke survivors so they can share their stories, accomplishments and tips for improving their health and overall wellness. The page currently has thousands of followers who spend "5 Minutes with Seany" and connect with each other to share resources. The momentum of this forum drove him to partner up with Taylor Smith to create "Adventures in Health" in late 2018 which broadens the supportive reach and compassion he has for all those who are struggling with debilitating injuries and illnesses.
For over twenty years, Gloria has coached high school athletes, running teams, and private clients in Southern California as a certified American Sport Education Program Coach. She has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California Lutheran College and is highly regarded in her field. Marathon runners come to her to shave minutes off their time. Special needs athletes work with her to increase their fitness level and self-confidence. Adults recovering from injuries and trauma such as strokes and paralysis, rely on her patience and expertise to increase their mobility and lift their spirits. In 2016, Gloria began working with Sean Entin, founder of this site, and helped him complete his first 5K race. She also helped increase his overall mobility, flexibility, and endurance.
In 2016, Gloria launched her business RunRios (http://www.RunRios.com) and since that time has helped numerous clients improve their health, fitness, and mobility. She is currently training children, seniors, and people from all walks of life. Sean describes Gloria this way: "There are lots of coaches out there, but Gloria has a special gift for healing that most don't have. She is an expert in body mechanics and alignment, but she also understands that much of what moves us is motivation and heart. She works on that, too."
Gloria is an accomplished runner who has completed 15 marathons including Boston, New York, and Los Angeles and a top level fitness coach who is highly sought after in the Los Angeles area. Her client base has included millionaires and famous designers, but you won't hear her talking about herself or her famous clients. She focuses on making a difference and bringing out the best in everyone she works with. She gets the most joy from watching others achieve their goals. This is why she joined up with Sean and Taylor to create "Adventures in Health" because she believes in helping people find the light at the end of the tunnel. She looks forward to sharing her tips and techniques for getting the most from your body and increasing your mental motivation.
Taylor’s health and wellness journey began at age 15 when he entered into the culinary industry as a chef. It was over the course of the next 8 years that he cultivated a deep passion for food and its critical importance to proper functioning of the human body. After graduating from Milton Academy in Boston, he took his passion for food, coupled with his passion for visual arts, and moved to Austin where he earned a degree in film and television production from the University of Texas. In 2015, Taylor moved to Los Angeles to focus fully on living a life of optimal health. He dove head first into the wellness space beginning with the completion of a 200 hour yoga teacher training, and subsequently led classes and workshops for 2 years in and around the LA area. During that time, his experience and knowledge base expanded as he continues his big picture approach to the human body, weaving together physiology, nutrition, spirituality, and emotional health into his yoga classes and personal training. In the fall of 2017, Taylor became a biohacker pioneer when he was hired as a health and training consultant at Upgrade Labs by Bulletproof. From there Taylor went on to start his own private practice that focuses on addressing emotional health as the foundation of healing. He continues to expand, offering his own innovative and wholistic approach to health that cultivates personal strength, growth, and gratitude.
